講座內(nèi)容：
We examine knowledge spillovers along the innovation network, using detailed data on foreign direct investment (FDI) firms in China and global patent records. In particular, we construct a measure of FDI-embedded intermediate technology, using a knowledge input–output (KIO) table based on inter-field patent citations. Our results show that a 10% increase in FDI-embedded technology raises China’s patent output by 7.9%. In comparison, the conventional production input–output (PIO) framework yields effects that are roughly half as large, and become statistically insignificant when PIO and KIO spillovers are considered jointly. Exploring the mechanisms, we find that FDI-embedded technology increases backward citations of source-country patents and technological similarity. These spillovers primarily occur through collaborative innovation rather than market transactions. Finally, spillovers are stronger when source countries have greater technological advantages and when technologies are more central to the innovation network.
